You mean to tell me linkin park/green day/sum 41 has any musical
quality what so ever. Their music is for the mainstream of people
with little catchey melodies with a "edgey" image made by their
record companys to make ignorant people feel like their being
rebelious in listening to their music. Coldplay is one of the
very few bands with any musical quality that is out there today.
Twenty years from now, Coldplay's Rush of blood to the head, and
X and Y albums will still be respected pieces of art while Green

Every single post on here, including the original article, has
apparently been written by misguided, prepubescent, ignorant
douchebags. Jesus christ. First of all, Coldplay sucks. They suck
for the same reason that Linkin Park sucks, for that matter. Not
only does it have the terrible aspects of Sum 41 and Greenday
(i.e. overproduced, disingenuine bullshit), but they lyrics are
completely and wholeheartedly narcissitic and solipsistic. The
get the listener nowhere: they focus on one's self, yet are so
vague in approaching it, it gains mass appeal, it gives people a
sense of intimacy. Unfortunately, it's all a facade, and,
ultimately, a dead-end. The lack of genuine situations and
emotions leaves me, for one, with a dead, empty feeling... that's
musical abuse. Fine, look past the lyrics... "It just sounds good!" One word: gilded. It may appear decent initially, but upon further inspection, you'll realize you're listening to nothing more than a candy-coated piece of shit. Their album reeks of having a tremendous budget dumped into them, once again stripping them of any genuine emotive qualities. Money can be a good thing for a band, if used properly, but when it's used in Coldplay's sense (expensive samples, hundreds of effects, overproduction, etc.) it leads to something that is on the whole uninspiring. I know, music can be amazing for the sole reason that it just 'sounds good' (the first band that comes to mind for me is the Hellacopters), but the artists creating 'good sounding' musics make that their goal. They don't try to be emotive, they don't make piss poor attempts at being arousing, inspirational, or even anything all that significant. That's why they're little nuggets of gold, genuine through and through, and not little nuggets of shit coated in glitter. Talentwise, Chris Martin is rather accomplished vocally and does a peachy-keen job at making a big selling record. However, originality isn't exactly his forte when it comes to songwriting. There's no denying that many of his songs share stroooong common themes, and can even sound like complete rehashes; there's not even much new ground being treaded in the first place. As an LAS review stated, "X & Y is uninspired adult pop that drops jaws only in its capacity to elicit yawns. " Some people are entertained by regurgitated concepts, and clearly others are offended. Whatever creams your twinkie, I guess. In closing, Coldplay sucks. Contest? Read above and get back to me. P.S. U2 sucks. So does Jet. You know its true. |

Hello world. I was one of the unlucky or lucky (depending on how
you look at it) men to get dragged to Coldplay in Dallas, Texas.
I saw Aerosmith, Tom Petty, Roger Waters, Foo Fighters, Weezer,
and The Chili Peppers, at the same venue. Out of all these
COLDPLAY was the worst concert I have ever been to. And I've
also seen Rolling Stones, 311, Smashing Pumpkins, Beck, Cowboy
Mouth, Tone Loc, Coolio, Toadies, No Doubt, Black Crowes, even
Willie Nelson, and Dwight Youkam. And about 20 more at Rock Fest
and Country Fest. Not that having concert experience at this
venue and others would allow me to properly critique Coldplay.
But I know when I’m having a good time and when I’m not. Amateur
night was more entertaining than this monotonous repetitive crap.
I bought the X&Y album at Virgin before the concert and listened
to it getting down to the park with three hot chicks. The band
that came on before Coldplay, Riley something was ok filler and
was fun. Coldplay then let me down. I had to lie on the grass
and get drunk to make the droning bearable. About Half way
through the "show" the audience began hanging out and chatting
with each other. Looking toward the stage you started to see
more and more people talking to each other than watching the
concert. I have never seen that before at Starplex/Smirnoff
center or at any other major concert. It was like in class when
the lecture gets boring and the volume in the room moves up and
up. I could imagine that at any second Martin was going to say,
“Could everyone please listen to me and shutup!” I also kept
thinking, didn’t he already sing that song. In fact it was the
same song the entire concert, at least it sounded like the same
boring depressing song. I wonder how many people will be on
antidepressants after the performance. I like the songs in four
minute doses, but having to hear it for 2 hours was horrible. I
know it wasn't really the same song but come on can't they change
it up a little. The light show was cool though and Johnny
Cashes’ Ring of Fire was good. It sucks that you have to sing
someone else’s song to mix it up. The only good thing about this
concert was the 24 ounce beers and tons of hot chicks. Chicks
love Martin and his songs. Coldplay can bring in tons of babes
and if you take your girlfriend to one she will love on you. Oh
yaa! No ENCORE request from the crowd. Once it was over everyone
ran for the exits. Thank god I didn't pay for parking, the
tickets or my food/beverages. Worst concert ever, except for the
hot chick that danced in front of me for two hours. And the
crazy girl on the back exit trying to sell her boyfriends package
for just 4.99. I am now anxiously awaiting the U2 concert,
October 29 in Dallas. Can’t wait! |

Ok, I am here not to say that coldplay is a pile of rotten shit,

forced to listen to his "signing" every day at art, and then see
some videos at IT. As I see him rolling around on the Piano...I

Green day sold over 20 million albums of American Idot. Dookie
sold over 15 million. I don't think you need to ask yourself when
people will start listening to them, because they already are.
Linkin Park is more 1's and 0's than coldplay. In fact any band
on a major record label (like the bands you mentioned) will have
alot of effects, and the band will have a large fan base. Sum41
went triple platinum in Canada. Don't be facists and only take
the U.S. into concideration. I'm not sayin that Coldplay isn't
popular or anything...I'm just saying get your facts right. If
you want to prove coldplay sucks do it right. Using bands that
are just as horrible (or even more horrible) to prove your point
was not the right way. |
